In my last post I listed the 6 key steps to Successful Content Marketing campaigns. The first step is to identify your niche. Your niche is that smaller segment of companies you want to sell your product or service to. They will most likely buy from you.
The Fatal Mistake = Trying to Market to All
New companies and sometimes even those in business for a while make a fatal mistake. They believe every company in business is a good candidate for the product or service they offer. So they try to market their product or service to all of these companies.
The mistake is simple. In order to market to everyone their marketing has to be very general. So general, in fact, that it can’t focus on those specific problems certain companies are having which their product or service would easily correct.
Focus on Those Who Need What You Offer Right Now
The correct approach is to identify those companies who need your product or service right now. Those for whom your product or service will eliminate their major problem right now. The one which is holding them back from achieving the success they desire.
When this is done, develop the marketing pieces which will show them how your product or service will eliminate this problem for them. The marketing should also convince them that your company is the best one to provide this product or service for them.
It will be much easier to put together this marketing material. You will also make more sales more quickly by doing so.
